Join the Common Acre, Unkitawa, and Dakota storyteller Fern Renville for the official Green Line Grand Opening, featuring a Duwamish ground blessing, a Lakota drum ceremony, Coast Salish storytelling, and educational activities centered around cultural and environmental cross-pollinations.
We will host a full day of exploration on our public pollinator habitat restoration site, filled with edible and medicinal native plants. Food, drinks, and family friendly activities provided.
This event was inspired by our commitment to hold space for stories about the native plants and wild pollinators of these lands, to center indigenous decision-making in our organizing, and to uphold Indigenous ways of knowing in our educating. We seek to highlight and promote Indigenous Knowledge and Peoples as assets and allies in the protection of pollinators
This project takes place in Rainier Beach, in partnership with Seattle City Light, to protect pollinators and cultivate community under the power lines.
